Do the monster blog
As Stewie from Family Guy would say, “Victory is mine!”
Okay, victory is “the Cowboys”…and it’s hardly worth celebrating as we won by sucking less than the Eagles. Still, I’ll take that first place, thank YOU…and it was great to see Roy Williams snub that %&*)#$ cover 2 and break his pattern, go with his instinct, and…
Oh, this isn’t a football blog, is it? Right. Sorry.
(gocowboyseaglessuckhahahahahahahahaaaaaaaa)
Right. On to the Monster Blog…this is my answer to, “Hey, everyone read the comments! Great stuff in there, and some of my wittier blurbs at that!” quandary. Honestly, read the comments — great stuff in there, and some of my wittier blurbs at that.
Do not make me say that again.
Here’s the deal: tomorrow I will begin logging more of my nutrition (the same really), and a lot more of my training (here we go…all fired up after my NYC trip and goal to train in NYC for 10 weeks in April or May)…but, until that day comes (already here in Texas, but you know what I mean) I want to blog on your blogs. I feel this is more important, as many of you have been asking a lot of questions, answering other people’s questions (cool, thanks for doing my job…keep it up!), and basically posting like crazy folk. It’s too cool for words, but there’s so many questions and comments I felt this new “blog in a blog” strategy was called for.
If I don’t get to something you asked, comment it (this will not be a regular 10-in-10 type of habit) and I’ll answer if you’re cool and give me stuff. Otherwise…
Seriously, it’s because I missed it or it was asked by someone else…or it’s beyond the scope of the 10 blog and borders on consultation. Hope that’s understandable.
Here we go…
To all, regarding the female-heavy posts and (thank you) complements
I’ll start here…good as place as any. Some of you have asked about the abundance of the fairer sex on the blog. That’s a big “?” to me as well, as I never had this on my other blog, nor in general. I’d like to think it’s because my irresistible wit and commanding yet sensitive personna and rugged good-looks has caught on as a national fad, but I think women are too smart for such tomfoolery and, before I could get this ridiculous sentence out on digital paper, I slapped myself.
Why indeed. Here’s my best guess: a ‘sane’ way to discard fat appeals more to women because it dismisses the largest obstacle most women have in fat-burning: emotion. This, from Mr. Emotion. Yeah, I’m quite the emotional guy. Very cool with the big E. So, I bet women can relate to that — both the expression and the struggle to rid oneself of negative emotions — more so than the average guy.
Also, thanks to some kind souls with poor vision, there’s a rumor that I’m cute. Don’t believe it. I could walk right past 90% of these people and they’d never know it.
There’s also a rumor that I take digs into myself. That’s true, but it’s not a deep psychological scar. It’s a bit of downplay, but a lot of reality. I don’t think I’m a handsome fellow, nor do I give a damn about it. I’m average in my book, and that’s fine. In peak shape, I’m above average for sure, but that’s neck-down. Ha. Still, true attraction and beauty stems from within, at least as most women view men, so I’ve been fortunate in my career as a male. We’ll leave it at that.
Sort of.
10 is not about me, my friends. Granted, it’s my blog, my ‘stage’ to be funny and start what I hope is a serious trend using humor and off-beat witticisms to defeat the demon of obesity, but that doesn’t mean I desire the spotlight. I don’t. Hurts my eyes. I expect it — that’s different. I want it only for the purposes of leverage (greater communication with the masses) and for my own personal goals, not for anything else. In short, I’m not your fitness cover guy looking for pats on the back from really nice people…look somewhere else for that.
Still, to say I’m not flattered and thankful would be a complete non-truth. Thanks for all of that…I just ask that the focus is kept squarely on the 10 in 10 — however, I’m not the FCC and refuse to censor thoughts unless they’re cruel or way off-topic. I’m not bitchin’, just reminding. Lastly…the nicest compliment (all are nice, but this is one that I’d frame) came from one of you who said my ‘writing drew you in.’ Made my month. Thank you.
‘nuff said about this. As you can tell, it’s not a comfortable subject for me.
To several of you (Ron, Ardis, and others) about my training and results
A lot of queries on this as well. “Wow, only X weeks!”, and “How can you train in NYC and live in Dallas?”
My original transformation (we’ll get to you…hang in there…) was more rapid than some may experience, but certainly not without stretches of, “Geez…when IS this fat going to leave again?” days. Even weeks. Why…well, it’s a mind thing. Not a gene thing…perhaps a nutrition-dialed-in thing to a degree, but I willed the fat off. Sure, I trained hard, dieted hard, and so-on…but the mind really rules the body. I had my mind focused on that goal almost to the exclusion of all else…and that’s the truth.
Same thing is true now, except I’m not able to give it ‘quite’ as much focus. Even as I’m typing, I’m focusing, but I simply have more to handle business-wise than I did during my initial transformation.
Someone asked if I got back to my ‘before’ state…no. Despite a year off and tons of “waaaaaaaa” on my part, I didn’t get ‘that’ out-of-shape. Could have been worse, that’s for sure.
About NYC and the “how do you do that” posts: I found a chef by willing the chef (Law of Attraction); as I covered in other posts, you can do this too. Please read back to find out what I’m talking about. Training in NYC — possible because I decided a few years ago to construct my life in a way that would generate the most amount of income and the least amount of physical commitment (meaning location.) Eventually, thanks to so many people who graciously support what I’m doing and are benefitting from it, I’ll be able to work far less and travel more. For now, I work just about every day and have a blast doing it…but I’m free to do that anywhere. A laptop and a WiFi is all I need. So, I can train in NYC. I just have to pay double rent…kinda a drag, but yeah…it’s about being the best I can be, plus this is my job. I will simply be in the best shape ‘ever’ in 2006. Nothing will deter this goal. My business partner is in NYC (actually Hoboken, but close), and the trainer he recommended is in NY, so there you go. Plus I love the city, the people…everything about it.
To several; re: cravings, struggles and weight
Cravings will come and go. There will be weeks where you gain physical weight, but it may be muscle. There will be flat weeks, peak weeks and valley weeks. It doesn’t matter…your focus must only be on the destination. Since your destination is reset every 10 or so weeks, your focus can extend ‘past’ any momentary set-backs you have or, Buddha forbid, the SCALE. Scales suck. They’re all but worthless. Trust your jeans and a good mirror…and how you feel.
I know it doesn’t feel good to think you’re going backward, but sometimes you have just “go” and know that eventually things will level out. The alternative is not acceptable: stopping and resigning the dream to live in the reality that is actually a delusion. Think about that sentence for a while, okay?
Yes, many here will and have ‘struggled’, but please hear me — this is not a race. This is not a 10-week-only deal. This is not a diet. This is a way of approaching nutrition and fitness for the rest of your lives. Therefore, you have the rest of your life to hone the system. It’s the dawn of a new day and yo have a long ways to go until nightfall. Think of things in that sense, and struggles will become less intense. Cravings will diminish because the mind is given the luxury of ‘time’ and ‘sanity’. Combine this with super-clean nutrition (organic, chemical-free real food) and flat-out hard work, and you’ll progress faster than you believe is possible. Leave out ONE of those key components, and your progress will suffer…but still, you will move forward. I’ll settle for nothing less from you.
To Kay:
Kay’s just one of several who commented on my “reality mindset”…and Kay, you’re a doll for saying what you did.
Now I’m going to shatter the bubble. : )
Actually, “truth-ville” is not the acceptance of mediocrity or even adopting a “that’s life” mindset. I know where you were going with this, and it’s ALL GOOD…no prob with the intention. However, this is not me. I do not accept “that’s life”. When I do, I’m not a happy camper. I encourage people to tell life to bugger off if you have to and change life for the better despite it all. Don’t take it…do something about it. Don’t settle for being “sorta fit” if you can be ultra-fit…unless “sorta” makes you happy and fulfills your Core Values. It doesn’t do that for me, so my goals and standards are much higher than the average persons’. Please do not take that as superiority or ego: far from it. It’s not only my passion, but it’s also my job. I can do it better when I’m in the best shape, plus I have a heart and soul of an athlete. Being in that shape (not at the exclusion of all else time-wise or priority-wise, but within reasonable balance with life) is one of my deepest joys.
The ‘truth’ is that things do happen…BUT the ‘truth’ is also that I didn’t have to let this happen, nor attract it into my life. I’m now more convinced of that than ever, hence the progression and the goals for 2006.
Hopefully you’re now challenged to do the same…raise the bar if you want to. That’s not written to Kay, but to ALL OF YOU…raise the bar. Just raise it with your Core Values in tact, and your sanity in check.
In a few days, the new (way new) look for 10 in 10 will be released like so many hounds on your senses. Since I was (am) a designer, my love for the ‘cool look’ made its way into the overhaul, and 10 will have the look and feel “of” 10: wild, funny, intense, but structured and sane. I think you’ll enjoy it. However, this look was only created because Ray (my HTML guru) and I wanted to raise the bar. Challenge ourselves. The same is true for everything you’re passionate about in life.
Doing this blog is a major challenge. Writing MORE than daily (just count the days and the blogs…I’m way ahead baby!) is not an easy task. Making it “news-worthy witty”, as one reporter put it, is even more difficult. Above all, making it helpful — yeah. Difficult. However, it’s more than rewarding, and I feel like I have a huge extended family from the efforts.
I’d like to see each of you re-define “truth-ville” to mean something in-between, “It’s okay to let life happen” and “I MUST do this or I will be MISERABLE!” Both are out-of balance with reality in my opinion. Let’s see what we can do about that…cool deal?
To Tina:
Just a special “thank you” for the comments on “Everyone Looky Here”. I could single out a dozen folks, so no one think I’m playing favorites…but the bit about Claire did me in. : )
To Tracey:
You’re drunk, girl…QoftheS over NIN?? Man, I was pacing the floor waiting for Q to finish…but they’re not bad. : )
To Lori:
I do more sitting than most people, that’s for sure. I’m not promoting this as a ‘balanced life’, but it’s something I’m committed to. Still, I greatly appreciate your cool comments. Thank you for laughing and also having the desire to reach out to others. It’s comments like this that make me feel like I’m accomplishing more than writing about “losing weight” and being a clown.
To all re: the cross-posting and helping of others
Hey, feel more than free…in fact, it makes my day to see it. If someone posts something way off, I’ll blurb back…but if you have something to share with another, YES…by all means, that’s cool. Like I said, 10 is for YOU…it’s not all about me or my ranting, ideas, products, etc.
To all re: the humor
Good sports…that’s all I can say. Well, not ALL I can say, as I’m about to prove.
I’ve already stated the agenda behind the humor. Some of you write me and say you were “in tears”. Others say, “What the hell are you talking about?” Both categories seem to benefit from the “reality posting” in each and every blog.
10 will never be a humor-only blog, nor will you see a blog that’s entirely humor or stark-natured commentary. That’s just a tool I use to get your attention off one thing and on to another…plus it’s a lot of fun. It’s also creative, and that’s at my nature. So, I’m being true to myself while being true to a higher goal and method of inspiration and education in the world of fitness and nutrition. How many books and blogs are there on “eat this” and “do that”? We have enough of that to last 100 lifetimes. The fitness world needed a good kick in the nads, and that’s where 10 comes in.
I love it when you guys ‘get it’…and it’s funny at times when you don’t and say, “But I loved what you said about motivation…” or whatever. The fact that I push every button and envelope known to man and have yet to receive a “hate email” is indicative of the fact that most people on here can (a) take a joke; (b) laugh at themselves, and (c) agree to disagree.
To say I’m impressed with the 10 readers is a monumental understatement.
Someone commented, “Despite your comment about GW, I…” Interesting comment to me. I have fun with politics and religion because they’re taboo subjects. Do I give a flying blank? No. Why? Because this is 10, and you take your chances every time you read a blog. I ‘want’ that feeling…to have you drifting along and thinking stuff like, “What the hell is this guy…oh, wow…good idea about that organic food…hey, that was a bit harsh, I … oh, cool. Didn’t know that!…”
That’s the point. Whether or not I like Bush or not is irrelevant.
For the record, I hate Bush.
The BAND, not the President. Bush was this grunge band that had its day in the sun, now thankfully set…so yeah, the band, not the other Bush.
No, actually I can’t stand Bush.
The BEER, the beer for cryin’ out loud…geez, you didn’t think? Oh, right…I can see why you would think I meant…hmmm. Yeah. Kinda confusing on my part. Sorry ‘bout that. No…the beer. Bush Beer. I think it’s spelled differently, though…
Oh, okay…Bush sucks.
KATE Bush…the singer.
Kate. Not George W. K-a-t-e Bush. Big difference. One has breasts, the other does not…and that’s just for starters.
You know, I actually love Kate Bush. What WAS I thinking?
See? You have NO idea what I’m saying, do you?
So yeah…all but the hopelessly naive can figure out my political and socioreligious leanings, and again…I just don’t care. Don’t care about yours as long as you don’t start killing people in the name of either. At that point, you too would suck.
Back to the point: any blogger nutritionist can talk about body fat and calories, but few have the fortitude (read: stupidity) to demand that his readers be subjected to such needless fodder just to get to the helpful parts.
What you probably don’t fully realize right now, but will eventually (if not already), is that these little diversions “are” the helpful parts. I’ve just engaged your subconscious mind in a strong anchoring pattern. The next time you think “politics” or “religion”, “10 in 10” will be in the mix. It’s a nasty trick, but someone had to play it on you. The more I can anchor things that you either strongly agree or disagree with to the goal of 10 in 10, the more ‘broad’ 10 in 10 becomes to you. The larger it appears in your subconscious…and the more your mind is engaged in the ongoing process.
And here you thought I was just raggin’ on poor “W”. Far from it. Sure, I have my ‘serious’ political and religious views just like you do, but that’s not going to be discussed in any form or fashion…merely commented on here and there. Also, I greatly respect the views of others in these two arenas, so no worries about ‘debates’ or ‘ideology hammering’…ugh. Not for me, thank you.
Now, those smelly Celtics…that’s a whole other issue…
To all re: self-sabotage
Many have asked, “How do I stop this process?” Please read back and find my posts and comments on this; but the short story is to write them down (everything you think or say to yourself that’s negative in a day) and then repeat them to the person you love the most, using THEM as the subject. If you say, “Why am I such a loser?”, come up to your loved one and say, “Name Here, why are YOU such a loser?” This is primarily a mental-only exercise, as it’s what? Cruel! That’s right…so why are you doing it to you? How would your loved one feel if you said it to them? Okay, just TELL them that you’re saying this to YOURSELF and ask their permission to continue.
Just this one simple exercise can break most people of negative self-talk. It’s the linguistic version of being forced to smoke 800 cigarettes once caught with one. The only difference is this won’t give you cancer.
Oh, about ‘back-sliding’…you cannot back-slide from a level position. Take the 10 mindset and run with it. You will find that it’s sane and level. I’m asking you to CHOOSE to eat alternative meals! Then choose to eat tight and more pleasurable meals (meals that take you toward your goals) 90% or more of the time so you’ll be happy, healthy and lean. Deal?
Okay, I’ve blogged enough for 10 days. I hope this helps address some issues. I hope you find some of the answers in here. I hope you find a ton of inspiration, and a few, “Oh, that’s the deal!” moments. Above all, I hope you do more than HOPE…I hope, I trust, and I KNOW you will stop hoping and start doing. Continue doing. Do until there’s nothing to do…and that my friends is only when we part this mortal coil. Get busy, and have a blast. {10}

Hey Jon,
A few of the bloggers commented on low energy this time of year….do you have any supplement/lifestyle recommendations for people who may suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder?
I also have a question about attraction statements, since you keep mentioning that elusive petite (define petite please :) brunette with depth and big tata’s….do you use an attraction statement re. your future mate? I’ve thought a lot about this, since I am soon-to-be-divorced and would love to find a man with depth :) and some emotional intelligence (and, ok, a nice physique to go along with it)….and sooner rather than later would be GREAT…..BUT is this one of those situations where one should be careful about what one asks for? better to pursue being the best mate I can be for that hypothetical male and ‘hope’ we someday encounter each other? or better to define that ‘perfect’ mate thru an attraction statement? Would love to hear your thoughts on this….
Thanks for the daily motivation….right on track for my first DP and my 10 in 10….my birthday this Friday :)

Jon,
Thanks I think you’re a doll too! I wasn’t saying life happens to us so throw in the towel. When we take our eyes off the prize we suffer the conquences so we have to learn from that. Dust ourselves off and start again or start anew. I think you got that though?
GOOD NEWS! while you were walking Central Park I was wheeling in pain, but only for ONE day, detoxing from a lifetime addiction to sugar and caffine. What a huge breakthough in my nutrition and in my MIND that I couldn’t function without it. I credit you Jon for your truth telling and encouragement and GOD for His power in my life. I’m in, 10 and LifeAssess are going to work change more than my outside appearance.

When you find yourself “doing,” there really is no time for hoping. I spent a good many years (I’m 34 and at present, 304 lbs) sitting around and hoping… and not doing. What do you have when you sit around? Time. Wasted time. Now that I’m hitting the gym, playing some sports and getting myself “out there,” I’m discarding fat, eating tight (as Jon said) and discovering that I don’t have as much time to just sit around as I used to… nor would I want that time back. I’m making the most of each day, each week, etc. And you know what else? The things that I would sit around and hope for, are naturally coming to be (without me having to put any extra effort into them). My extra effort is now focused on my goals… hey, I know better then anyone what a hot fudge sundae tastes like, but now I’m more interested in say, asparagus (or any other vegetable that I used to avoid because it wasn’t laden with a hard candy shell) and discovering flavor combinations that I would have thought to be too complicated, etc. Fudge pales in comparison.
So, what am I saying here (Jon, your blog really has me fired up today… well, it has helped to keep the home fires burning since I started reading it a while back) is keep moving forward towards your goals. To this point, I’ve discarded 26 pounds of fat and have about 130 or so more that I’m focused on expelling from my system. I have no intentions on looking back… looking back to the sofa, the wasted time, the hoping and the waaa-waaa’s (as Jon would say), I’ll keep looking ahead, and be reminded of what’s behind me but not be controlled by it.
Okay, getting down off my soap box… thanks Jon! As I said before, I’m in this! And btw… GO BUCS! You have to admit, that was a great play by Alstot at the end… okay, okay… I had to make my contribution to the football portion of today’s blog.

Im trying to change one thing everyday in order to get to my goal. whether its drinking more water, eating more organic and eating more fiber or just having the mind set of a healthly life style…I know it will all fall into place. Even thought its been a real struggle to get to the gym, just because of time issues…working full time, being single parent, rehabing a 2 family…blah blah blah…im not making excuses
Im still fighting and not giving up.
Ordered the coconut oil and cant wait to get it!!!!

i would like to ask you about coffee.
what is the deal with coffee?
I think, well I know I am addicted and just have to have my coffee in the morning, usually at work and it all amounts to 3 cups of coffee. I don’t drink it in the afternoon or night - just the morning - and it is not organinc coffee either:) (I just made a joke - can you belive it??)
Anyway, just thought and ask what do you think and do you drink any coffee??

Hey all, there is a fantastic book and a set of CDs out there on the power of attraction that I love and have used with great success in growing my business and (for you Alyson) finding the right mate.
The author is Lynn Grabhorn and the book/CD set is called, “Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting.”. Lynn is very no BS and very much about creating the emotional connection and energy it takes to attract what you want to your life no matter what it is.
When Jon says he “willed his fat away” I don’t doubt this knowing what I know about the law of attraction and energy. Last I checked, the CDs were hard to find but I prefer them since Lynn’s voice is very matter of fact and funny. However, the book is wonderful and there is a workbook that helps you focus on some of the concepts.
Just thought I’d toss that out there. Not to detract from any of your material Jon - I think it all goes together ;-).
Understanding emotion and how it creates the energy that brings what your life brings to you will change your outlook forever - it certainly changed mine! It’s a good complement to the 10 blog.

SAD is primarily a light issue. I recommend that people increase cod liver oil (the Carlson lemon-flavored version tastes good, so don’t worry) to compensate for the vitamins sunlight exposure delivers. The effects are also to the eyes, so try increasing Vitamin A and sleeping in a completely dark room (no LED lights.)
Attraction statements: she’s not elusive, merely not on my radar at the moment. I never mentioned big tatas except as a joke. But, since this subject WILL NOT DIE…I’ll set the record straight:
I’m a butt man…not a boob man. Above that, I’m a brain man. But you could be Albert Schweitzer and the flat or chub-chub pooty would lose me (hey…another rhyme…I’m on a roll.) That’s just my built-in, at the core, donawannachangathing deal. So, “petite” for me is short, very fit, tight bod, and brilliantly charming. I cannot separate any of these from the other…that’s like losing Ringo and replacing him with Charlie Watts. Sorry…no more Beatles.
Ya dig?
(Not a “depth” thing, lest anyone incur my verbal wrath and prodigious debate skills.)
Yes, I have literal attraction statements for my future mate — and everyone looky here again…I’m not using them at the moment. That’s how powerful Law of Attraction is (to learn more, pay me money and change your life with M-Power…you’ll be glad you did. Cue the music…now, back to the game.)
Here: I’ll share the main attraction statement with you all (how transparent can a guy be? I make Wonder Woman’s john look like a lead casing on Krypton.)
I’m in the joyful and fulfilling process of attracting all that I need to do, know and have in order to meet, marry and stay committed for life to a loving, beautiful, intelligent woman; my soul mate and companion.
Notice the absence of “petite”, “tight ass”, “wit like a steel trap”, etc. Why? Well, I used my Core Values instead. “Beautiful” has already been defined by my Core, so there’s no reason to spell it out. Besides, I may MISS something — physical beauty is transient and my tastes can change. So, I really do ‘not’ narrow things down to “brunette” or whatever. I may marry a red-head. It’s the package deal.
I just know she’ll be John, Paul, George and Ringo. Except all chicks. One chick in 4. Ah, you know what I mean…
Lastly LOA has nothing whatsoever to do with “hope”. Hope is a wish; attraction is a physical working of synchronous energy. Vibes, baby.
To Kay:
Wooooowwwweeee! Great stuff there Kay! Thanks for sharing, and giving me ‘any’ credit. Me and the Big G. I’d say Big G and the K… : )
Oh, yeah…LifeAssess is way beyond the physical, as is M-Power (people, feed me…I’m worse than that plant from Little Shop of Horrors, and far more charming to blog with.)
To Julius:
Fantastic post bro…GET IT ON!! There’s nothing to be said for “hoping” for anything. “Hope” for the best? No sir…”attract the ultimate.” Life will be chaotic, but the ultimate can be attracted in any situation. I’m not dissing “hope” totally. There’s a great passage in the Bible that reads, “Now, we have faith, hope and love. And the greatest of these is love.” Paul (the author of that text) was not referencing “hope” as in “I really hope Jim gets better,” but the ‘emotion’ of hope is, I feel, the same.
And, “love”…yeah boy. Paul knew his stuff when it came to love and law. If only more of us would practice that whole “love others” bit, you know? It’s hard to do that when we’re KILLING PEOPLE…but perhaps I’m just confused by our present-day, enlightened, leave no child behind interpretation of “love thy enemy”.
Then again, I’m all for WW Deux. What a quagmire of thoughts I possess…oh. Wait.
Damn.
There I go again.
Please address all hate mail to the brick wall behind you. (Thanks Trey!)
To Lisa:
Thank you!!!
I like you too!!!
Keep us posted, and keep those “!!!!!” coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(kidding Lisa; you’re one of my favs, and LISTEN UP FOLKS…she’s a single mommy making it happen. The next time we call a sports icon a hero (unless it’s Roy Williams of course), let’s remember folks like Lisa. Even firefighters get PAID for heroics and know what they’re getting into. God bless ‘em, they are heroes, but single parents doing it right have everyone beat in my book.)
My book. Geez. I’m sounding more and more dogmatic every day. My dad was dogmatic, so call it a tribute to a great hero if you must. I hope I can be 1/4th the man he was.
To Anna:
Actually there ‘is’ organic coffee, but I do appreciate the attempt! : )
Coffee is cool if it’s a cup or two a day, but I would prefer that most people use it as a tool, not a crutch. Mix half decaf and half caf (my trick) and have your first cup prior to cardio. You’ll burn more fat.
Three cups is pushing it. Adrenal stress is not something to mess around with.
People with adrenal issues or existing heart problems should not drink coffee beyond 1 cup or whatever their doc says to do. There’s some studies out now on the ‘benefits’ of coffee to the heart. I’m not buying it…but then again, I don’t think caffeine is Satan either. It’s fine in moderation for ‘most’ people, but for people like Kay, it should be avoided altogether.
Hope that helps!
To Elisa:
Stewie is a near-deity figure to me. : ) Thanks for the contributions…ya coach!!

thanks for the tip

Hi Jon,
Jon, your the man! I just finished reading from day one and I must say that today’s blog was a good refresher and motivator. I find that when I am reading I can always identify with what someone else is feeling or that something I was questioning is addressed in the blog. It’s wierd, but I believe say you get what you need when you least expect it but need it most.
I also want to say thank you for returning my call. I understand that I can’t change fat into muscle and that it is about body composition and since I’ve been reading your very informative and humorous blog (though I must admit sometimes the humor goes over my head (swoosh), the scale has stayed the same but the body fat indicator is going down. You said that the Tanita scales are not accurate, which is the scale I have, and I agree, it does fluctuate, I am aware that hydration plays a part in the reading. I also don’t believe the reading exactly but so long as it is going down that is what I am looking for. I have managed this by increasing the weight when I am lifting and as you suggested, more walking.
I too am in the process of divorce and as Alyson mentioned, would be interested to hear your comments on Attraction. And Lisa, I am incorporating what you said about one change at a time. I know my downfall is chocolate fudge brownie ice cream, bacon and fried food (hey I’m Latina, we fry everything) but one thing at a time is doable, same for coffee I love my cafe con leche but not as much as I want to see my love or “lack of” love handles go away. So I will eliminate one thing at a time and I will lift heavier and walk more so by the time my birthday comes around in March(the big 5-0) I’ll be feeling better about my self physically, mentally and emotionally. You are all God’s gifts and I am grateful to be among an elite group of people. Let’s hear it for Positive Emotions ( Yeah)!!!

Hi Jon,
quick question, what do you do about training when you’re sick? I’m coming down with a sore throat. I did double cardio and weights yesterday, and my ride today. I was just going to play it by ear. Carry on as usual til I can’t.Maybe eat less calories if I’m really laid out for a day or too? Sound okay?
Thanks

I tend to lose energy in the winter too. I have adjustable work hours, so I go in earlier in the winter so that I can leave (if lucky) before the sun goes down. I don’t know if you have that flexability in your life/work, but it helps to see a little light during the day. I also make it a point to sit under a *bright* light for a little while during the day, preferably while relaxing with a good book. Also, go outside on your days off if at all possible. It’s bloody cold in my neck of the woods, but I’ll tolerate it for a breath of good clean fresh air and some natural light. :) I find that keeping a steady sleeping schedule helps considerably. I try not to vary my bedtime by more than half an hour, though I might stay up a tad longer on the weekends (but not by much!). I avoid naps because I tend to go into hibernation mode. Finally, citrus fruits seems to help, but maybe it’s just an emotional/mental connection to a sunnier place! I hope those suggestions help.

Hi Jon,
Was getting ready to walk out the door and realized I had not got on the blog yet today. You mentioned me and I had not even written yet (the man’s a mindreader). Awsome blog today so much inspiration, motivation and just a real good kick in the arse. Julius way to go man, I can tell from your desire that your on on a new path, I’m hoping to continue to see you blog on as the weeks go by as we are all on the path to a healthier lifestyle. Elisa and Alyson,I also have many, many cd’s, books and so forth on attracting abundance, EFT and so on including the one listed above which is good. But I’m telling you guys if you want the focus to be on the weight loss plus the who, what, why, where and when as well, order the M-Power program, it has it all. On the men topic, you won’t find happiness just because you find a man. You need to become happy with yourself first and then you will be able to attract a great man, it just takes a little time like getting off the weight. Jon, I know you have shared some of the tips from M-Power here, if you don’t already do this maybe you can set something up for everyone to listen to just one week of M-Power to see for themself, hearing is believing. Yes marketing is my background also, but I have never pushed something for anyone unless I believe in it 100%+. I’m actually going to start calling Oprah because I think this needs to be shared ASAP. I have worked with some top fashion designers and perfumers in New York that I am going to have put in calls as well. We probably can’t get you on before the end of this year but January would be great right after the holidays. Just a reminder “Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels”.

Tina, great point. I posted in an earlier blog about M-Power, nothing like it - it is the real deal for manifesting your dreams in life - especially around fitness.
I agree with you on the man front. I had to get real about me and be in a place of true acceptance and happiness about who I was and what I deserved before I could manifest the best relationship. Otherwise, you can’t articulate what you want.
I’ve never been divorced but have had great friends that have (lived with my best friend when she was going through hers) and the emotional rollercoaster is intense. Her biggest triumph was coming to grips with who she was in all of her splendor. She’s in a great relationship now.
I wish you both the best. Hang in there! I love seeing your blogs and reading about your progress.
Julius, WAY TO GO!!! You inspired me to kick my workout up a notch tonight! THANK YOU.

Never, ever train when you have fever. I recommend not training at all except walking during any illness. Let your body heal. Now, you can keep FROM getting sick by reading up on vitamin C (http://www.cforyourself.com and http://www.linuspauling.com). Echanecia (liquid form held under the tounge until you can’t stand it anymore.
To Tina:
(No, she’s not on my staff!)
Tina, thanks for the glowing endorsement! Anytime you want to call the O for me, feel more than free to do so. I do have the goal of being on Oprah next year…have many contacts who have either been on the show or know others who have.
I’m sure I can arrange a trial for those who have not already joined M-Power. We’re upgrading all our systems now, so I’ll check on what that will entail.
Everyone…if this is of interest to you, let me know.
Thank yo very much for that kind of support. Four steps beyond flattered.

Ok, one last thing and then I swear I’ll stop being a blog hog…hey, Jon is rubbing off on me.
So, Julius’ blog inspired me to push harder in my workout tonight. I moved up about 5% on most of the exercises in the back workout and about 10% for the leg workout. I had on this shirt/short combo that my boyfriend calls the “bad ass” outfit. It makes me laugh! I think he calls it that because the shirt is black and so are the shorts. The shorts have this funky blue stripe… anyhow I digress
A stranger (woman) walked up to me as I was resting between sets and said, “That’s a really great outfit. You look really good in it.” I thanked her and kept going - certainly an interaction worth breaking the old concentration for ;-).
So, moving up 5% weight wise in my back workout - great! Moving up 10% weight wise in my leg workout - excellent! Getting compliments from a stranger while wearing the “bad ass” outfit, PRICELESS!
So Julius, thanks yet again….
