How You Can Avoid Back Pain

One of the most common complaints I hear from post-40 trainees is that their backs are not what they used to be. In some cases, there is an actual injury, and that should always be discounted first by seeing your doctor.

backpain However, in many cases, it comes down to one simple thing, and that is weak or tight hamstrings.

You may not think that the back of your legs have anything to do with the back of your body, but you’d be mistaken. Hamstring tightness limits motion in the pelvis and can place it in a position that increases stress across the low back. Therefore, it follows that stretching the hamstring muscles typically helps decrease the intensity of back pain and the frequency of recurrences.

A good stretching program is recommended, along with strengthening the hamstrings through proper exercise.
