Lessons from Doc Mercola
I have been a fan, albeit a disagreeable-at-times fan, of Dr. Joe Mercola from Mercola.com. Joe has by far the largest website in the world on alternative medicine and fitness.
He’s also a rich dude…but hey, he put years of blood and sweat into a free site, so God bless him for it.
I had the privilege of meeting with him for lunch during my DC trip, along with many other heavy hitters in the internet health field. I’ll post pics soon.
My take-away will help you guys in your own quest for health. Here we go…
First, Joe brought his own food. He actually found a Whole Foods, ordered organic salads, some lean beef I believe, and a huge avocado. In short, he walks the talk. The rest of us were having diet sodas. In short, we were not walking our talk…but that’s okay, as I was taking a break from walking. My feet hurt.
Oh, don’t freak — I had a yummy steak Caesar salad.
Joe echoed much of what I’ve been saying over the years. Here’s a synopsis:
- The pharmies suck. He uses statins only when patients will not respond to any traditional therapy, and even then I could tell this was for anti-inflammatory benefits. That was about 3% of his patients.
- I told him my cholesterol story — 350ish unless I’m training and eating well, then it’s 230ish, and he, like I, could care less about that. “Oh, that’s fine.” The real concerns were omega 3s, antioxidants and natural foods from organic sources. Go figure.
- He is also a huge fan of Krill Oil, one of my recent discoveries. Do check it out. It’s loaded with omega 3s — more so than any other fish oil.
- He loved the fact that I was a nutritionist, and really railed on RDs…heh. I loved that. RDs mostly suck, although a few have surfaced from the meaningless “Food Pyramid Of Knowledge” and entered the light of day. Usually it takes a rogue guy like me or a CCN (I’m actually almost both) to realize how much RDs can suck. However, in fairness to RDs, they suck far less than most doctors, who suck beyond description (except for the heroes I’ve already mentioned, of course…you guys rule.)
- The bottom line: “health care” is nothing of the sort. It’s “disease and symptom treatment”, not “health care”. We’re not caring a hoot about health otherwise we’d be doing tons more to prevent disease rather than treat it and the symptoms associated with it. There is simply a lot more money in solving a problem when it happens than doing something about it prior. It’s the Katrina Strategy of health care — wait for the levees to break and then over-react by wasting tons of money on stuff that won’t work anyway.
That was my take-away…hope it helps you.
Today I made a great connection to peace and exercise. I will be sharing that in my upcoming “Education In Destiny” seminar. Only 4 e-seats left.
More later…Bingo needs to walk. {10}

Hi Jon,
Do you have any brand suggestions for the Krill oil? I’ve read in places its also good for curing hormonal acne…
Also, how do you get an e-seat for the seminar?

Ame;
Right now there’s only one brand. Go to www.mercola.com and you will find it by searching for Krill oil. Neptune is the only manufactuer in the states.
For info on Education In Destiny (the first 10 e-seats are gone so the price is slightly higher), click here and send a blank email. You will receive information within 10 minutes. Thanks!

Jon, seein’s as how you’re an Einstein fan, I had to show you this:
Subject: Einstein’s birthday
March 14th is the anniversary of Albert Einstein’s birthday. He was born March 14, 1879.
Few remember that the Nobel Prize winner married his cousin, Elsa Lowenthal, after his first marriage dissolved in 1919.
He stated that he was attracted to Elsa because she was well endowed. He postulated that if you are attracted to women with large breasts, the attraction is amplified if there is a DNA connection.
This became known as Einstein’s Theory of Relative Titty.

HI Jon,
I finally broke down and bought Jarrow Glutamine powder (big jug!). I bought it to use per your wonderful, awesome, repeated clues to use it prior to fasting cardio.
Question: the instruction label says maximal results will be obtained by supplementing AFTER exercise.
Do you also use it after cardio workouts or lifting?
Got your new ebook and got several others to buy it too. I’ve also steered a couple of people to Mpower in the past couple of weeks. Always talking you up, really miss the old blog stuff though. Hope all is well!
